Robin was appointed Executive Chairman of Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd and Chairman of the Board of Sealord Group in mid-2007; he had previously spent three years as the Chief Executive of AFL which is the largest Maori-owned fisheries company in New Zealand. AFL owns a 50% shareholding in Sealord Group and Prepared Foods Limited and 100% ownership of Moana Pacific Fisheries, Chatham Processing, Pacific Marine Farms and Prepared Foods Processing.

Robin was previously the CEO of the former Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission. He is a director of several boards, including the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council and is a member of the Council for the Maori University located at Otaki, Te Wananga o Raukawa.

Robin is a graduate of Massey University and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (With Distinction), he is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.
