Russell is no stranger to the fishing industry. Prior to coming to AFL Russell was the GM Operations at Antons Seafoods where he was responsible for production operations, export and national sales and marketing. Russell has been in the fishing industry since 2001 but prior to that he was employed as Manager Trading Operations for E Lichtenstein & Co Ltd (a subsidiary of Cavalier Corporation) and was responsible for managing sales and marketing functions for a total client portfolio with substantial sales revenues. Russell has had considerable experience in a range of roles in wool buying, marketing and sales.

Russell has a number of tertiary qualifications including Diplomas in Wool Technology, Management (Majoring in Industrial Marketing) and Business (Majoring in Marketing).
